This marks a significant milestone in the state's $600 million initiative to revamp these vital facilities. The Kankakee Welcome Center, the inaugural project of this endeavor, has not only set the standard for upcoming welcome centers but also transformed them into recreational hubs.

Serving as the Landscape Architect, the welcome center boasts a range of amenities, such as a playground, dog park, scenic trails, boardwalk, art installations, expansive prairie restoration areas, and a fishing pond. These centers have evolved into more than just parking spaces; they've become welcoming parks that embrace the local community.

Browning Day: Endresss+Hauser Innovation Center & George E. Booth Co. Headquarters

The groundbreaking ceremony of the Endress+Hauser Group Innovation Center and George E. Booth Co. Headquarters marked the culmination of a rigorous and challenging design process to create this new flagship facility in Greenwood, IN. The Innovation Center, which will serve as the new gateway to the campus, brings together various on-campus Endress+Hauser teams and the George E. Booth staff under one new roof.

Endress+Hauser has had a clear vision from the beginning of the project to offer this new building as a gift to their employees, providing them with a space to promote collaboration and creativity. Towards that goal, the Innovation Center features modern office facilities visually connected to the light industrial functions, a smart classroom, a STEM workforce development maker space, and various collaboration spaces.

The new building will also prioritize clean energy strategies, such as geothermal and a rooftop photovoltaic array, to minimize its embodied carbon and promote Endress+Hauser's mission of leadership in energy transformation.

Indianapolis Public Schools: Broad Ripple Middle School Athletic Facility Improvements

In April, IPS hosted the first of several Rebuilding Stronger groundbreaking ceremonies at Broad Ripple Middle School. Broad Ripple Middle School is one of six IPS schools getting athletic field upgrades - and one of 23 schools that will get facility improvements - from the district’s Rebuilding Stronger plan.

The Rebuilding Stronger upgrades will give IPS middle school students the opportunity to participate in more sports than ever before, helping them gain a more robust middle school experience while preparing them to compete at the high school level.

Schmidt Associates: Westfield Washington Schools Transportation Center

The new Westfield Washington Schools Transportation Center project broke ground in early May. The 42,500 SF geothermal facility will include administrative offices, a simulation lab, and a driver training room that can be divided for flexibility. The Hagerman Group, Design Collaborative: Legacy Park at Junior Achievement of Northern Indiana

Construction begins in June on Legacy Park at Junior Achievement of Northern Indiana. The park, designed by Design Collaborative and located adjacent to JA's headquarters in Fort Wayne, IN, will showcase sculptures created by local artists along a 1,200 linear feet paved path. The park also features a 32 foot wide labyrinth made of unique pavers, a pavilion, and a metal word wall. The word wall is dedicated to donors Paul and Dorothy Shaffer, who met as participants in a spelling bee in their youth and therefore have a special connection to words. The pavilion is also named after them.

The Hagerman Group: Fishers Community Center at Johnson Farm

In April, the City of Fishers broke ground on the new Fishers Community Center at Johnson Farm, opening in fall 2025 at Hoosier Road near 121st Street. Special guests included Ms. May's first grade class from Hoosier Road Elementary School, the ambassador class for the new facility, as well as Art Johnson, whose family farmed the land for generations.

The 105,000 square foot recreation center will be a gathering space for residents, bringing the community together through health and wellness with amenities including a large indoor playground, indoor track, dog park, aquatics facility with a 2-story waterslide, and announced today, a café operated by Sahm's Hospitality Group.
