AUSTIN, TX — Integrated architecture and construction firm The Beck Group reached a major milestone in the construction of the Campus on Lake Austin, a 44-acre lakeside campus that will house The Holdsworth Center, a nonprofit organization founded by Charles Butt, Chairman of H-E-B. The Beck Group, project construction manager, held a ceremony commemorating the completed installation of all structural steel, known as a “topping out” celebration.

“At The Beck Group, our mission consists of much more than designing and delivering buildings — we are in the business of building communities," said John Armour, Senior Project Superintendent. "The Beck Group is proud to play a role in this transformative project that will that will benefit Texas public education for years to come."

The campus will serve as the permanent home of The Holdsworth Center, an organization that partners with public school districts in Texas to cultivate a pipeline of leaders so that teachers thrive and students excel in every classroom.

“The Campus on Lake Austin will be a place for Texas educators to learn, reflect and grow. We are grateful for the many hands, hearts and minds from The Beck Group team whose tireless efforts are making that vision a reality,” said Lindsay Whorton, President of The Holdsworth Center. “The craftsmanship and heart The Beck Group team has put into this beautiful campus reflects the respect we believe public educators deserve.”

At the heart of the campus is a commons surrounded by 16 new buildings connected by a pedestrian walkway. The campus also includes an administrative building, a 180-room residential village and a social hub with outdoor decks and a screened-in porch.

Dedicated to highlighting the center’s position along the shoreline of Lake Austin, The Beck Group has worked closely with its project partners to preserve the beauty of the site and the surrounding area. Construction for the project began in November 2018 and is scheduled for completion in fall 2020.
